Preparing for Climate Emergencies

Resilience is an extension of emergency management which communities have been practicing for decades.  While traditional emergency management preparation considers past events, climate resilience adds the projected effects of climate change. Climate projections evaluate a range of likely climate futures and communities must decide where in that range they will plan. Some projected emergencies are unique to climate change such as sea level rise while others are more intense and frequent familiar emergencies such as flooding, wildfire, wind, pandemics, and extreme temperatures.  Considerations for a resilient community are listed below:
